Dear Salsa Dance Co.,
I came to the states to visit my mom who lives in Mission. I live in Sweden where there's not a lot of activities like Salsa, Merengue, etc. going on. I decided to start taking dance classes. When I started I couldn't move my hips to the music, I didn't even know the basic salsa steps. After every class I learned more & more about how to move to the music and how to believe in myself. I got extra help when I needed it which helped me a lot and made me dance and move at the same level as the other ones in class, like the ones who had been dancing Salsa a lot longer than me. My 10 days in the states have been an experience and I will take my knowledge with me back to Europe and probably keep on dancing. This is not just a great exercise, this is fun & there's just a great atmosphere in there that's hard to explain. You'd have to try it out for yourselves.

I feel I can call you on a first name bases due to your kind personality. I recently saw your awesome show at the Heart of the Valley Health Fair. It was a spectacular performance, you, staff and students had such radiance and self confidence that it even lifted my own spirits.

Orlando, God prescribed every single detail of your life. He also determined the natural talents you would possess and the uniqueness of your personality. The ability to help persons feel good of themselves is definitely a gift. May God continue giving you these beautiful blessing.

I have a 13 year old daughter who has a low self esteem of herself. I have tried just about everything from extra curricular activities at school and even in the private sector. After seeing your group perform, I immediately called my daughter and told her about your performance, she quickly responded and said, can you take me to their studio I think I can dance.

We'll be at your Studio Monday.

 “Hi, My name is Letty, i was finally able to sit and write my testimony on how my life has changed since I started with The Salsa McAllen Dance Company!!!

  It's been Two years that I drove by Orlando's studio and checked out the schedule posted on his window... (I had no idea of what this was all about!)  Of course, I was not happy with the way I looked...I was beginning to be comfortable in stretch pants ... you know the ones with the elastic waist band......I had let go of myself and gained lots of weight after having my children.  Didn't feel good about myself AT ALL!

 I had belonged to several other gyms...you know...the ones that get advertised a lot.....Anyway, they gave me no results...just took my money!!!!!  I also felt completely alone and isolated at these gyms....no one there to encourage me...no one there to guide me as to what I needed to do...

 I now have been a Salsa/Dance Fitness member for two AWESOME years.....and you want to know the best part about this?????  You are not tricked into signing some stupid contract that keeps you there.....you are not left alone to figure things out....and most of all....you don't get BORED!

 I can honestly tell all of you...that I don't know what I would have done had it not been for ORLANDO......I am now an advocate for Orlando....you see,...I have lost a lot of inches and weight...to the point where I get asked constantly if I am taking any med’s or drugs to help me with the weight loss.....I AM NOT.....I eat well, and exercise daily with the morning group!   AND another thing a gym can't give you.......are FRIENDS......The friends I have made these past two years have been incredible, inspirational, genuine......We are one BIG HAPPY FAMILY.....and we are there for one another....and the one who's always there to brighten up our morning/and day........is Orlando!......

So I want to THANK YOU my dear friend!!!!!....Thank you for all you have done for me....and all that you continue to do for others!!!!

I can tell you that I am not that same frumpy, timid, shy person I used to be two long years ago!!!!!

 Good afternoon Orlando,

I wanted to drop a note and let you know that the people from my surprise birthday party for my wife still talk about it.
I went to an Easter egg hunt and a friend’s house and the hosts mother came over and wanted to know all about what I did and how I did it

I have passed out your studios name countless number of times.  I even had to do a quick impromptu recital. LOL Oh my God.  But at least I knew the steps!!!

My wife was happy at the effort, but wished she knew the steps better so that I would not be dancing with others.  Go figure.
Everyone commented on you and your wife's technique and style.  They all wish they could do those steps.  I even got an email from one lady saying she would dance with me anytime.  And went out of her way to say I did good for a "white boy".
In short, thanks.  It was fun.  I had confidence and what made it better, I actually knew what I was doing for a change and all those times I watched people dance I am no longer amazed and now somewhat critical.

Yea - For me.   One sad note though, I no longer count 123....567 in my head all day and listen to music to find the different dance beats that I could use.

Maybe time to come back and refresh.
